Below are some of the blogathons, memes and web events I have participated in (or working on now) as a film blogger. Thanks for all of my fellow bloggers for their creativity in starting these great blogging opportunities!
LONDON IN GENRES
Since I loved it so much, I revived this series and was given permission to host it myself. When it was left off, the series focused on some of the greatest cities in the world (see NYC and Paris entries below)… so I decided to add my favorite city, London, to that list. It proved to be a great collaborative experience among other fans of film. See the entire collection of film recommendations here.
6° OF SEPARATION
The blogathon I hosted that asked people to connect two random actors I selected through the movies that they liked in six steps or less. I thought it would be an interesting game to gain perspective on the movies that people enjoy, note the different and interesting paths people would take, and test just how much people know about movies and the actors in them. Read the rules here, and see the responses I received from fellow bloggers here. Stay tuned for another round if there is interest.
NEW YORK IN GENRES
I love NYC as it is second home (seriously, I’m there so much). The object of this is to recommend in a few sentences a movie about New York or set in New York in one of the film genres. After everyone has submitted there recommendations, there will be one film for each genre for anyone in the mood for a NYC film. My genre will be Drama, and I’m currently working on a post highlighting the Spike Lee joint 25th Hour. Read my recommendation here. See the entire list of entries here.
PARIS IN GENRES
My first entry into the “..in Genres” web event which I have come to really enjoy being apart of. This time the recommendation was based on Paris-inspired films. The genre for my recommendation is Music and for it I discuss the song “Where Do You Go To (My Lovely)”/Peter Sarstedt, used in the short film Hotel Chevalier. Read my post here. See the entire list of Paris in Genres here.
MY MOVIE INFLUENCE
What is that one film that has had a dramatic impact on your life? For me that was the 2003 film 21 Grams. Read my post here.
THE ALL WET BLOGATHON
The objective here was to pick a single scene from any film that showcased rain and used it as an important moment for the story. I just had to choose the ending to the Woody Allen’s film Midnight in Paris (2012 Oscar winner for best original screenplay). Allen has become really great at paying homage to beautiful cities around the world and this film is no exception. Read my post here.
MY MOVIE YEAR
This one involved picking your favorite year in film and select five of your favorite films from that year. My choice is the year 2005, which I think had a great mix of stylish indie and mainstream movies. This was also around the time I really started my love affair with movies and awakened what has proven to be one of the biggest passions in my life so this year will always have a huge place in my heart. Read my post here.
VALENTINE’S DAY MOVIE MEME
I thought this would be idea to put myself in the mood for VDay. I’m a romantic after all, so I was too hard for me to do. Here, I answer some questions pertaining to my favorite romantic movies, scenes, couples, and moments in film. Read my post here.
