High-res
Sure, I’m sometimes a sucker for Nicholas Sparks movies, but if you’re in the mood for a great romantic drama that’ll get you all weepie and highlight the romanticism often attached to war heroes, don’t watch this (The Lucky One), instead watch that indie alternative (Atonement).
How Atonement does it better: If you really want something to play with your emotions, this Oscar-nominated film brilliantly plays with some of the most intense emotions - love, regret, hope, and forgiveness - while perfectly capturing imagery of the past. No melodrama here; the story is has such a complexity and desperation to it that it that no exaggeration is necessary.
