My Life Lately

… or “How Barcelona continously inspires me”

My travels (and work) took to me Barcelona last week. I absolutely love Spain; it was the first country I ever stepped foot in outside the States so it will always be the place where I started my adventuring abroad. Barcelona is by far one of my favorite cities in the word. This was my 4th time in the city, but I fall in love with it everytime I’m there. I can only hope to be able to visit there for many years to come.

I was in Barcelona for just shy of a week. Such beautiful weather. I wish I could have stayed longer. Everytime I come I get motivated to work on my Spanish (I will be good at it one day!) Flying from Atlanta, it’s about a 9 hour flight so of course to pass the time I watched so movies…

Take Shelter.  I always planned to watched this but never got around to it last year. Man, this was such a great psychological thriller; it slowly but surely drew me in and had such a better ending than I anticipated. Is he crazy? Is he psychic? … or is it both? This is one of those movies that is great to discuss. I have my own theories :)

Footloose. Yep, I saw this year’s remake. Believe me, I had no intention of seeing this especially since I think it sometimes borders on sacrilegious to remake truly classic movies. But it came down to 4 hours let on the plane and nothing else that looked remotely interesting. If you remember, I just saw the original the week before so I was in the perfect position to compare the two. Gotta say, I didn’t hate it. Alot of the best scenes were directly lifted from the original so it made me appreciate that one much more. The one modern update I really liked was the new choreography.

Movies I’ve Seen on Previous Flights:

  • Tangled. I think the man next to me thought I was crazy for crying at an animated movie
  • Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows.  Kinda fell asleep on it but did get through the whole thing. I liked the little bits of Guy Richie-style cinematography more than the story
  • Black Swan. So good I watched it for the second time on a flight
  • The Dilemma. Ehh. I have nothing good to say
