Life Between Films

The Butler // Though I was awaiting Lee Daniel’s latest film The Paperboy to see how he chose to follow up Precious, I ultimately decided to skip it and pretend that it doesn’t exist after all the bad press at Cannes and all the talk about the infamous peeing scene. This one, however, I can really get behind. Here is the first look photo from Daniel’s upcoming film The Butler which focuses on the real-life of Eugene Allen, a White House butler who served eight presidents from 1952 to 1986. I’m usually not really into historical films but this one promises to have a unique perspective into the lives of some of the most well known historical figures and how they related to each other. The movie stars Forest Whitaker (who I had the pleasure of meeting back at his Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony) as the butler Cecil Gaines, which is such a great casting choice. Here’s to hopefully another Oscar nomination. I’m also excited to see others from the long list of great cast including James Marsden as JFK, Minka Kelly as Jackie O, Nelson Ellis as Martin Luther King Jr, Melissa Leo as Mamie Eisenhower, and John Cusack as Richard Nixon.
